This is the main pedestrian street in the Village at Squaw Valley. In the far distance, silhouetted against the sky, is the cable car tower at the top of the cliff.

This is Hope Valley an hour before October's first major winter storm. Hope Valley sits at 7000 feet, just south of Tahoe, over Luther Pass on Highway 89. The mountain in the far distance to the right is 10,400-foot Roundtop. just up from Woods Lake near Carson Pass.

When the Lathams and the Buttses were waiting for James Taylor to perform at Tanglewood in Massachusetts, they passed their time reading a good book and sent me a picture...
